I have been interested in sports and fitness from a young age and started horse riding and swimming when I was 7 years old. During my 20's I then started to get really interested in gym work, running and nutrition. I entered my first Race For Life and from then on I have continued to enjoy running.
During my 30’s I was loving the fitness side of life so much and my interest in nutrition was growing, so I decided to turn this into my career! At the time I was working as a nursery school Deputy Manager - and I headed back to college, with my rucksack packed to learn to become a Personal Trainer! This was the best move I have ever made - I totally love my job.
I started working as a Gym Instructor at David Lloyd in Wooburn Green and really enjoyed my time there and learned so much. I also set my sights to train to teach Spinning as I had really started to enjoy this. My next goal then was training to teach Body Pump closely followed by wanting to cut my hours at the gym and start freelance personal training from my own gym and also clients' homes. I also continued my interest in advising clients on nutrition; helping people lose weight, eat better, or more sport/goal orientated.
I also started to enter more running events - 10k, 5k, 5 mile, 10 mile and half marathon - they have all been excellent fun and great experiences. I have run some races alone and some with clients to support them and help them achieve their goals.
I have also kept in with some of my work with children. I currently spend my afternoons driving to various schools, to teach circuit training, with boxercise, as part of a Government funded scheme to reduce childhood obesity. Currently I train children from 11-18 in circuit training, and educating them on fitness, the body and nutrition. This I also thoroughly enjoy, as do the students!
I have recently decided to put my 3 favourite sports, swimming, cycling and running into a goal and have recently completed my first Triathlon. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and am looking forward to many more!
I wish to continue to grow in my career, and continue to expand my knowledge with varying experiences, plus continued professional development.
